Protective Coatings for Chemical Storage Bunds

Customer needs are assessed and the coatings then applied are designed to contain any chemical spills and leaks. Concrete repair screeds are used to resurface bunds, floors, tanks and bays, and specialist systems that are suitable for permanent immersion will be used.

Inspection will take place first, and any previously applied coating or corrosion will be removed using grit blasting techniques or mechanical abrading. This will promote the correct surface for the approved high-performance industrial coating system that is then applied. A sealer coat is then applied, followed by two top coats to a nominal thickness of 1–1.5mm. Depending on the construction of the bund, this may require a blowhole filler, i.e bag rub. This is followed by a final visual inspection.

Methods used include hand application using trowels, rollers, etc.

Some of the projects we have undertaken involving Chemical Storage Bunds are shown in the accompanying photos.
